Space-age, synthetic clothing has become the uniform of the outdoor enthusiast. But after years of filling our closets with the latest engineered fabrics, we had the uneasy feeling something wasn’t right. We were dressing like astronauts to explore planet Earth. Our clothes felt sterile, soulless, artificial. So we set about designing performance-oriented natural fiber outdoor apparel. Shown here is our 100% cotton (Ventile™) alpine hardshell jacket. An all-wool softshell jacket also made it into the final prototype stage. The goal was to produce these garments in the US, but finding a dependable factory that could provide the required quality proved to be nearly impossible. We unfortunately abandoned this project due to the large financial risk posed by production.
